Obi-Wan Kenobi Documentary Unveils Trailer & Disney+ Premiere Date

After two months since Obi-Wan Kenobi concluded its six-episode run, Disney+ and Lucasfilm announced the upcoming premiere of a new documentary which highlights the making of the Ewan McGregor-led Star Wars miniseries. The documentary titled Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return has been scheduled to make its debut on September 8 as part of the Disney+ Day celebration.

The announcement also comes with the release of its official trailer, which you can check out below, featuring commentary by the cast and director Deborah Chow as they talked about the meaningful process of bringing the beloved character back to the Star Wars universe.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return promise to include never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes footage featuring the cast’s colorful personal stories and meaningful moments. It will also give highlight to show’s “side of filmmaking that makes Star Wars so unique—the respect and passion for the generation-spanning legacy and the beloved characters.”

“This insightful documentary explores the return of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker to the screen—and Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen to their respective classic roles,” reads the synopsis. “Director Deborah Chow, cast and crew reflect on their journey to tell a new story with iconic Star Wars characters Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader and Princess Leia, while introducing new heroes and villains into the saga along the way.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Joining the returning Star Wars alums are franchise newcomers Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (Homeland), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Sung Kang (F9: The Fast Saga), Simone Kessell (Of Kings and Prophets), and Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems).
