Give John Cena a Chance in HBO Max’s Peacemaker Trailer

HBO Max has dropped a new Peacemaker trailer for James Gunn’s upcoming The Suicide Squad spin-off series, featuring the return of John Cena as the titular anti-hero. The series is currently slated to premiere on January 13, 2022.

The video provides us with a better idea of what’s next for the trained killer as the government enlisted him for a secret task force where he must kill serious threats to the safety of American citizens. It also gives us a new look at the other main characters including Freddie Stroma’s Vigilante and Danielle Brooks’ Leota, who will both have some kind of bond with Peacemaker.

Beyond the WWE legend in the lead role, the Peacemaker series will also star Steve Agee (The Suicide SquadSuperstore), Danielle Brooks (Orange Is the New BlackClose Enough), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment DayPerry Mason) as Auggie Smith, Jennifer Holland (BrightburnAmerican Horror Story) as Emilia Harcourt, and Freddie Stroma (Bridgerton) as Vigilante.

Additional cast includes Lochlyn Munro (Riverdale), Chukwudi Iwuji (The Underground Railroad), Annie Chang (Shades of Blue), Christoper Heyerdahl (Hell on WheelsSupernatural), Elizabeth Faith Ludlow (The Walking Dead), Rizwan Manji (Goliath),  Nhut Le (The Kroll Show) as DC hero Judomaster, Aison Araya (Arrow) as Amber, and Lenny Jacobson (Nurse Jackie) as Evan.

Based on the characters from DC, the 8-episode first season of Peacemaker is written and created by James Gunn, who directed multiple episodes. Executive producers are Gunn, Cena, Peter Safran, and Matt Miller. It is being produced by Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company in association with Warner Bros. Television.
