Star Trek: Lower Decks Gets Early Season 3 Order, Plus Season 2 Trailer!

Ahead of its return later this year, Paramount+ has officially renewed Mike McMahan’s adult-animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks for another 10-episode third season as well as releasing the first official trailer for its upcoming second season, confirming a summer return date! Featuring the voices of Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid, Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, August 12, which marks over a year since the series made its debut on CBS All Access. The video offers us a preview of the epic “sci-fi stuff” that the U.S.S. Cerritos’s crew will get to do in the new season and also gives viewers an idea on Boimler’s fate after he accepted the promotion to become a part of Captain Riker’s U.S.S. Titan crew.

Set within the Star Trek universe in 2380, the animated series centers around the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s least important ships, the U.S.S. Cerritos. Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford, and Tendi have to keep up with their duties and their social lives, often while the ship is being rocked by a multitude of sci-fi anomalies.

The voice cast of Star Trek: Lower Decks includes Newsome as Ensign Beckett Mariner, Quaid as Ensign Brad Boimler, Noel Wells as Ensign Tendi, and Eugene Cordero as Ensign Rutherford. It also features the voices of Fred Tatasciore as Lieutenant Shaxs, Dawnn Lewis as Captain Carol Freeman, Jerry O’Connell as Commander Jack Ransom, and Gillian Vigman as Doctor T’Ana.
