The animated series was created by Rainbow Group CEO Iginio Straffi in 2004 and has been on-air for almost 15 years. Due to its massive success both in Europe and in the US, the series had produced a growing franchise consists of two spin-off series, merchandises, a fashion doll line, and video games.
The live-action series will be the second collaboration between Netflix and the Rainbow Group, who have worked together to produce the animated spinoff series World of Winx.
