Moonbase 8 teaser previews Showtime’s Fred Armisen-led comedy
In honor of the 58th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s iconic moon speech, Showtime has released the first Moonbase 8 teaser for their upcoming NASA-centric comedy series, featuring a trio of subpar astronauts, hoping to be chosen for the moon mission. Produced by A24, the series is expected to make its debut sometime this fall. Check out the video in the player below!
Set in the isolated desert of Winslow, Arizona at NASA’s Moon Base Simulator, Moonbase 8 follows eager astronauts Skip, Rook and their leader Cap as they attempt to qualify for their first lunar mission. While working vigorously to complete their training, a series of unexpected circumstances forces the astronauts to question their own mental sanity, trust in each other and whether or not they’re cut out for space travel.
The series stars Emmy nominee Fred Armisen (Portlandia), Oscar nominee John C. Reilly (Chicago, Ralph Breaks the Internet) and Tim Heidecker (Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!).
Moonbase 8 is co-created by Armisen, Heidecker, Reilly and Jonathan Krisel (Baskets). Alongside writing and starring in the half-hour series, the quartet all executive produce the project, with Krisel also acting as director for the comedy. The six-episode first season is set to premiere sometime this fall on Showtime.
