Netflix has released the first teaser for Academy Award winner Renee Zellweger’s upcoming social thriller anthology What/If. The video reveals our first look at Zellweger’s character Anne while also giving us a glimpse of how she will control the lives of the other characters in series. What/If will be available for streaming on May 23, exclusively on Netflix. Check out the video below!
The series will also star Jane Levy (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) as Lisa, Blake Jenner (Glee, American Animals) as Sean, Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World) as Cassidy, Samantha Ware (Barry, Chicago Med) as Angela, Juan Castano (The OA, Bull) as Marcos, Keith Powers (Straight Outta Compton, Before I Fall) as Todd, Saamer Usmani (Reign, The Killjoys) as Avery, Dave Annable (Brothers and Sisters) as Dr. Ian Harris, Louis Herthum (Westworld) as Foster, and Tyler Ross, Derek Smith, Nana Ghana, Monique Kim and Marissa Cuevas.
Created by Mike Kelley, known for creating the hit ABC mystery drama Revenge, the series will explore the effects of acceptable people committing deplorable acts, with Zellweger (Bridget Jones’s Baby) starring in the lead role of a powerful woman named Anne, whose story has yet to be discussed. The streaming service has ordered a ten-episode season of 60-minute episodes executive produced by Kelley, Melissa Loy (Revenge), Alex Gartner and Charles Roven (Season of the Witch), Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke (Flight).
Kelley and the streaming service have a multi-season plan for the series, which will take on an anthology format as each new season will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally relevant events and how the power of one decision can change lives so drastically.
Zellweger came back from her hiatus with the third entry in the hit Bridget Jones franchise and starred in the Christian drama Same Kind of Different As Me last year and will appear in the romantic drama Here and Now alongside Sarah Jessica Parker (Divorce) and Simon Baker (The Mentalist), followed by the titular role in the upcoming biopic Judy as The Wizard of Oz actress Judy Garland.
