First look at Jessica Lange in American Horror Story: Apocalypse
Never say never again. Despite insisting she was done with American Horror Story way back in 2015, immediately following the series’ Freak Show season, actress Jessica Lange has returned to reprise her popular role as Queen Constance in American Horror Story: Apocalypse (read our recap of Episode 1 here). And now, creator Ryan Murphy has shared the first image of the famed actress on set, though it’s not quite what fans will except as she’s … standing next to director Sarah Paulson and wearing a flowery dress and a huge smile. A far cry from the woman who has reportedly raised the Antichrist. Check out the return of Queen Constance in the image below!
“To celebrate 300k followers,” Ryan wrote, “Here’s a first look at the return of Queen Constance…the one and only Lady Lange…being directed by that dynamo of wit and talent Sarah Paulson. Love them both!”
American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy (Glee, Feud) has already confirmed that the new season will be a crossover between Season 1 (Murder House) and Season 3 (Coven). The two different seasons had dramatically different endings when they concluded, with Murder House ending with the impending arrival of the Antichrist and Coven ending with the witch school happily opening itself up to the public. It remains to be seen how the two will intertwine, or what the narrative will be.
The Emmy, Golden Globe and AFI Award-winning series from co-creators Murphy and Brad Falchuk aired its seventh season on FX last year. The sixth installment, Roanoke, recently received four Emmy Award nominations in the hairstyling, makeup and sound editing categories. The American Horror Story franchise has received 28 Emmy nominations and four wins over its previous six seasons. It is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television. American Horror Story was renewed for two more seasons back in January of 2017.
The new season of American Horror Story can currently be seen on FX.
