Despite Apology, Clayne Crawford Potentially Ousted from Lethal Weapon

In leading up to a decision on whether or not to renew the buddy cop series, network FOX and producing partner Warner Bros. Television are currently looking for a replacement for actor Clayne Crawford in the lead role of Martin Riggs if Lethal Weapon is to earn a third season, according to TVLine.

This news comes after almost two weeks since Crawford addressed the controversies involving him on set of late, which have included two reprimands, the first involving an angry outburst against an assistant director on an episode, the second involving an on-set accident during an episode he was directing in which an unnamed actor, allegedly co-star Damon Wayans, was injured. In his address, he also apologized to all of the cast members, producers and crew for his behavior and asked for forgiveness in hopes of keeping the show going and working together.

The show has been a solid hit for FOX since its 2016 debut, earning fairly positive reviews from critics and very positive reviews from audiences, as well as maintaining solid ratings in its new Tuesday night slot in which it is up against the ever-solid ratings hit NCIS on CBS and the fan-favorite The Flash on The CW. The renewal order for a third season has been up in the air due to the incidents involving Crawford and while TVLine‘s sources say no decision has been final, it appears FOX is searching to recast the role for a potential renewal.

Fans of Crawford can look forward to seeing him for possibly the last time in the season finale tonight at 8/7c on Fox.
