Get Shorty Series Renewed for Season 2 by EPIX

EPIX renews Get Shorty starring Ray Romano and Chris O’Dowd for second season

EPIX has renewed its series Get Shorty, based on the Elmore Leonard novel, for a second season. The show from MGM Television will return to the cable network in 2018 with 10 all-new episodes.

“EPIX is proud to be the home of Get Shorty, which has been the perfect addition to our scripted original slate,” said Mark Greenberg, President and CEO of EPIX. “Get Shorty is our most successful original scripted series to date, and continues to deliver phenomenal performances. We are thrilled to be working again with MGM Television, Davey Holmes, Chris O’Dowd, Ray Romano and the Get Shorty team on a second season.”

Get Shorty is the story of Miles Daly, played by Chris O’Dowd, who works as muscle for a murderous crime ring in Nevada and attempts to change professions and become a movie producer, laundering money through a Hollywood film. Three-time Emmy award winner Ray Romano stars as Rick, a washed up producer of low quality films who becomes Miles’ partner and guide through the maze of Hollywood.

Created and executive produced by Davey Holmes (ShamelessIn TreatmentDamages), the ten-episode, one-hour drama series is a reimagining of Elmore Leonard’s 1990 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name. The book was also famously made into a 1995 feature film directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and starring John Travolta, Gene Hackman, Rene Russo and Danny DeVito. Although their characters are named Miles Daly and Rick instead of Chili Palmer and Harry Zim, O’Dowd and Romano play the Travolta and Hackman parts, respectively.
