The CW has plans to reboot the television series “Beauty and the Beast,” says a story at The Hollywood Reporter.
The original, which ran for three seasons beginning in 1987, was created by Ron Koslow as a re-imagining of the fairy tale. Ron Perlman starred as Vincent, a beast-man who lived beneath the streets of New York City with an underground homeless community. There, he developed a psychic bond with with Catherine (Linda Hamilton), a District Attorney in the city.
The series follows the release earlier this year of the theatrical film Beastly, which also retold the fairy tale in a modern day setting. ABC, meanwhile, is planning their own episodic take on the story while Emma Watson is attached to headline a currently untitled film version, to be directed by Guillermo del Toro.
