Fox has bought the rights to The Spectre, a drama series to be based on the DC Comics character co-created by Jerry Siegel and Bernard Baily, reports Deadline. The character first appeared in a next issue ad in “More Fun Comics” #51 (January, 1940) and received his first story the following month, #52.
The site says that Brandon Camp (“John Doe”) will write the adaptation and executive produce with Bill Gerber (Gran Torino).
According to Deadline, the show will center “on a former cop serving time in afterlife limbo who hunts down earthly criminals on behalf of the dead and mortals soon to be dead, if ultimate justice is not served.”
Warner Bros. TV will produce with Gerber Pictures.
