With the pilot currently in production in Chicago, Titus Welliver has joined the cast of FX’s upcoming series “Powers” in the role of Triphammer, says a story at AOL TV.
The series, based on the comic book series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, deals with a pair of detectives that investigate superhero-related homicides. Jason Patric will play Detective Christian Walker with Lucy Punch starring as Detective Deena Pilgrim. The supporting cast is rounded out with Charles Dutton as their captain and Carly Foulkes as the superhero, Retro Girl.
Best known for his role as the Man in Black on “LOST”, Welliver’s “Powers” character is that of Harley Cohen, a wealthy inventor who, himself, fights crime in a mechanical suit under the Triphammer identity. Likely to be a recurring character, Triphammer has close personal ties to the mysterious past of Walker and Retro Girl.
“Powers” orginally launched as a comic book in 2004 from Image Comics and is currently published by Marvel’s Icon imprint.
