Last August, it was announced that a film based on Rovio’s popular app “Angry Birds” was in development.
Back then, Rovio’s CEO Mikael Hed said plans were unclear as to how the property was going to be developed. He has now confirmed to C21media.net (via the New York Post) that the animated adaptation will instead hit TV or the internet.
“We have been looking at that for quite a while, and that is definitely one of my personal big focus areas right now — to work on broadcast content for ‘Angry Birds,'” Hed said.
Regarding last the announced last August, Hed said “That was the first part of the exercise, and now that we’ve done that, the next part is to move into production, and that’s where we are right now.”
It is unclear right now which company or companies Rovio may be talking to about bringing the property to TV or the internet.
