Joe Quesada Teases Marvel’s Luke Cage and Iron Fist

Last week, it was revealed that Marvel’s Luke Cage, the third of five planned Netflix original series, would premiere on the streaming service September 30. Though further premiere dates are unconfirmed, the series will be followed by Marvel’s Iron Fist before the two of them, along with Daredevil and Jessica Jones, join forces for The Defenders.

Speaking at the premiere for Marvel’s Daredevil season 2, Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada offered a tease for Luke Cage and Iron Fist, especially the latter.

“Our goal is to provide four different shows that each have their own feel while, again, feeling like they are a part of a whole. Not an easy task, but I can tell you that our team is really fantastic at doing this.” Quesada tells Decider. “It’s still the early stages of Iron Fist, so I’m a little hesitant to say too much more than that. But Danny Rand is a completely different character and the world that he comes from, how he obtained his powers and his skills — all completely different.”

Quesada went on to address Luke Cage, saying:

“We’re not just locking ourselves into Hell’s Kitchen — although a lot of stuff does go on in Hell’s Kitchen. Luke Cage’s world is still New York, but it’s a different neighborhood. Again, I don’t want to reveal too much more than that, but the show itself will have a different palate, a different feel, a tone. It will sound different. So stay tuned.”

Mike Colter leads the cast for Marvel’s Luke Cage which also includes Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and the return of Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. Cheo Hodari Coker (Notorious, “NCIS: Los Angeles”) will serve as executive producer and showrunner for the series.

Finn Jones is set to star as Danny Rand, The Immortal Iron Fist, in the series which will be executive produced by Scott Buck (Dexter, Rome).
