Simone Missick Joins Marvel’s Luke Cage as Hero Misty Knight!

The cop-turned-detective Misty Knight will appear in the Netflix series

Following the news from earlier today that “Sons of Anarchy” star Theo Rossi has joined the cast of Marvel’s Luke Cage, Deadline reports that actress Simone Missick has joined the Netflix series as “Missy,” a character that the outlet notes is actually the hero Misty Knight.

Misty Knight made her comic book debut in “Marvel Premiere” #21, created by Tony Isabella and Arvell Jones. Originally a police officer with the NYPD, Misty Knight lost her arm in a bombing accident, but Iron Man himself built her a new bionic arm. The character has worked as a private detective with Luke Cage throughout the comics, even leading the Heroes for Hire at one point. Knight has also been one half of the Daughters of the Dragon with her partner Colleen Wing as well as a frequent love interest for Danny Rand aka Iron Fist.

Created by Archie Goodwin and John Romita, Sr., Luke Cage is one of the most popular street level heroes in the Marvel Universe who possesses superhuman strength and impenetrable skin. He’s also a friend and frequent business partner with Iron Fist, who will also be getting his own series on Netflix.

Cheo Hodari Coker (Notorious, “NCIS: Los Angeles”) will serve as executive producer and showrunner of the anticipated series, “Marvel’s Luke Cage.” Coker is writing the first two episodes of the series that will premiere in 2016, everywhere that Netflix is available.

Before the new series hits Netflix, Colter is set to debut as Luke Cage on the upcoming “Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” planned to premiere on the service later this year.
