According to Deadline, the hit 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith might be going to TV, but not the way you think… it’s being developed as a reality show.
New Regency, which produced the film that was distributed by 20th Century Fox, has joined forces with unscripted production company 3 Ball Entertainment (“Extreme Weight Loss”) to produce a reality game-competition version of the action comedy, which pitted (no pun intended) Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s married super assassins against each other. The show will also feature married couples that compete in “a high-octane, high-stakes game,” but no word on if live ammo will be involved.
The Mr. & Mrs. Smith movie was written by Simon Kinberg and directed by Doug Liman, and grossed over $475 million worldwide. It was previously adapted into a narrative ABC pilot starring Martin Henderson and Jordana Brewster in 2007, but was never picked up for series.
