Janney to Voice Pitts ; Skarsgard Joins True Blood

The Hollywood Reporter says Allison Janney (Juno, “The West Wing”) will lend her voice to Fox’s animated comedy “The Pitts,” while Alexander Skarsgard has joined the cast of “True Blood,” Alan Ball’s new vampire drama series for HBO, as a regular.

“Pitts,” from 20th Century Fox TV, Mike Scully and Julie Thacker-Scully, is based on the short-lived 2003 live-action comedy series and chronicles the adventures of the unluckiest family in the world. Janney will voice the mom, Liz Pitt.

Dylan Baker and Lizzy Caplan, who starred in the live-action series, previously signed on to reprise their roles as father Bob Pitt and daughter Liz. Also in October, Andy Milonakis was cast as Petey, the son.

“True Blood,” based on the “Southern Vampire” book series by Charlaine Harris, centers on the love story between a vampire, Bill (Stephen Moyer), and Sookie (Anna Paquin), a waitress who can read people’s minds.

Skarsgard will play a vampire and Viking who has been alive for more than a thousand years.
