Peter Berg Teams with HISTORY for Eight Part Docu-Series

HISTORY announced today that it is teaming up with director Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, Friday Night Lights) and his non-scripted shingle Film 45, to give viewers a rare look into the U.S. Special Forces. This eight-episode docu-series — which should announce its official title shortly — is planned to premiere later this year. The series follows men and women from the US Special Forces as they reveal, through first-hand accounts, details into their heroic missions.

Through interviews and cinematic recreations, these harrowing and courageous stories will be brought to screen giving the most intimate and human look at the triumphs and tragedies of the modern battleground. For these fearless soldiers, the details of their extraordinary acts of bravery under some of the most trying circumstances are mostly unknown. Now, retold by the soldiers themselves, and reenacted by former military, viewers will experience their courageous stories firsthand – how the mission came together, the struggles, success, and what it means to be an American hero.

Berg’s next big screen release, meanwhile, is Deepwater Horizon, which reteams him with leading man Mark Wahlberg. It’s set for release on September 30, 2016.

This series is produced by Film 45 for HISTORY. Executive Producers from Film 45 are Peter Berg, Matt Goldberg and Brandon Carroll. Matt Ginsburg and Elaine Frontain Bryant are Executive Producers for HISTORY.
