A fan theory about Homelander and Butcher Kiss has once again caught the attention of The Boys cast. This time, Antony Starr was asked directly about it, and his reaction was exactly what fans would expect: confused, amused, and very on-brand for the show’s tone.

Entertainment Tonight brought the Homelander and Butcher kiss theory directly to Antony Starr. The interviewer joked about a possible “happy ending,” and Starr, caught off guard, asked, “Who said that?” Que in, Nathan and Valerie then explained the idea, joking that the two could even “go for coffee” since “it’s been brewing for so long.” Starr shot back, “The dream team of press. Why would they say that? Why? I don’t even, this is the second time it has come up.”
But along the same lines, when asked if Homelander could ever have a redemption arc, Starr replied, “I don’t know. It’s a stretch. But you never say never.” Further explaining, he stated, ” But one of the things that we love about Jaws is that the shark is still a shark at the end of the movie. Homelander’s gonna be Homelander, you know? And I don’t think I’m spoiling anything to say that a redemption arc for Homie would be a challenge.”
That statement lines up with everything The Boys has built so far. Homelander doesn’t seem to be a character designed for a neat turnaround, and possibly not one that ends with Homelander and Butcher kissing.
As The Boys Season 5 gears up for its April 8 premiere, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The story picks up with Homelander holding more power than ever, while Butcher and the rest of the group are scattered and struggling to regroup. The returning cast includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, and Jensen Ackles, among others, as the series heads into its final stretch.
