That is a drop from the eight-episode lineup viewers saw in Season 1. Early reports also hint that Season 3 might be even tighter, possibly closing the story in just five episodes.
The update surfaced through a production wrap photo shared by a crew member. The image included the filming schedule for the upcoming season. It lists episodes 201 through 206, which clearly point to a six-episode order. Netflix has not officially confirmed the episode count yet. Still, the production document appears to strongly suggest the shorter season plan is already locked in.
The sci-fi series first landed on Netflix in 2024 as one of the platform’s biggest genre bets. The show draws its story from the novels written by Liu Cixin. After the debut season gained strong attention, Netflix confirmed that the story would continue with two more seasons to wrap up the full narrative. Reports say the next two seasons are filming back-to-back rather than separately. The production is expected to keep rolling through 2027.
