Netflix has set the release date for the sequel to the Baki Hanma anime, titled Baki-Dou. The date comes four months after the streaming giant released the upcoming series’s first official teaser, which gave a glimpse into its storyline and revealed the 2026 release window. Baki-Dou is based on the manga of the same name, created by Keisuke Itagaki. It serves as the fourth main installment of the Baki anime and manga franchise, preceded by Baki the Grappler, Baki, and aforementioned Baki Hanma, but succeeded by Bakidou and Baki Rahen.
Netflix sets release date for Baki-Dou for next month
Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai will hit Netflix on February 26, 2026, according to the anime‘s official X (formerly Twitter) account. All 13 episodes of the anime will drop in bulk (via Anime News Network).
The Baki-Dou manga began serialization in March 2014 in Weekly Shōnen Jump and concluded in April 2018 with 22 volumes.
Baki-Dou takes place after Baki’s eventful clash with his father, Yujiro, chronicled at the end of Baki Hanma. In the manga, Baki and other fighters face boredom and restlessness since the former’s fight with Yujiro was the best of what the fighting world had to offer. However, the boredom dissipates after a secret plan comes to fruition 364 meters below Tokyo Skytree. Tokugawa, using cloning technology, revives the legendary swordsman from the 17th century Samurai era, Musashi Miyamoto. Following his revival, Miyamoto duels some of the world’s strongest fighters, including Doppo Orochi, Jack Hanma, and Kaoru Hanayama, catching them off guard via his unique approach to combat and leaving them wondering how their clash with him will unfold.
The teaser trailer debuted online on September 5, 2025. Featuring a quick montage of Baki and other fighters, the footage offers a glimpse into the fighters’ boredom and teases their showdown with Miyamoto, who will be voiced by Naoya Uchida.
The original Baki anime, or Baki the Grappler, aired for two seasons on TV Tokyo in Japan between January and December 2001. Meanwhile, the first sequel, Baki, streamed on Netflix for two seasons between June 2018 and 2020. Then, the second sequel, Baki Hanma, streamed for two seasons — the second split into two parts — on Netflix between September 2021 and August 2023.
