Hit Netflix TV Show Renewed for Season 8

One of Netflix‘s biggest TV shows has officially been renewed for an eighth season, bringing back one of the streamer’s most popular shows for another year.

What Netflix show is getting renewed for a Season 8?

Black Mirror, the legendary sci-fi anthology series, is coming back for Season 8. The news was confirmed by Charlie Brooker, the show’s creator, on Netflix’s Tudum website. In a statement on the move, Brooker said that the show is back and hopes to be better than ever.

“Black Mirror will return, and hopefully it’ll be more Black Mirror than ever,” creator Charlie Brooker said. “It was a pleasant surprise and an honor.”

While Brooker didn’t reveal anything about Season 8 of the show, he did say that his brain has already been “whirring” about what it could include. “Well, luckily it does have a future, so I can confirm that Black Mirror will return, just in time for reality to catch up with it,” said Brooker. “So, that’s exciting. That chunk of my brain has already been activated and is whirring away.”

The series, which chronicles different stories usually set in near-future dystopian worlds, has been a massive hit ever since it premiered in the UK in 2011. In 2016, the series officially moved to Netflix and has only grown since then. The seventh season of the series, which premiered in April 2025, featured a stacked cast that included Awkwafina, Milanka Brooks, Peter Capaldi, Emma Corrin, Patsy Ferran, Paul Giamatti, Lewis Gribben, Osy Ikhile, Rashida Jones, and more.

The seventh season of the show also earned the show its first Golden Globe nominations, including nods for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television, and Rashida Jones and Paul Giamatti picked up nominations for their performances in the Season 7 episodes “Common People” and “Eulogy,” respectively.

“It was a pleasant surprise and an honor,” Brooker said of the news, before joking, “I mean, obviously, I don’t experience human emotion, but as much as I can emulate it, I was pleased.”
