Gaten Matarazzo recently addressed speculation surrounding Dustin Henderson’s relationship with Suzie following the Stranger Things series finale.
The Netflix series concluded on December 31, 2025, providing closure for most of its core characters. While Dustin is shown moving forward after the events of the finale, the absence of Suzie raised questions among fans.
In an interview with Business Insider, Matarazzo revealed that there was no explicit discussion with creators Matt and Ross Duffer regarding the fate of Dustin and Suzie’s relationship. However, the actor shared his personal interpretation.

Matarazzo also offered a candid reflection on Dustin’s behavior and how he believes the breakup may have happened. He said, “I would like to think he did so nicely. I don’t think he did so nicely, because he wasn’t very nice at that point in his life.” The breakup is not explicitly shown on screen. The actor said, “Or maybe she was sick of his s—. Maybe she was just like, ‘I’m not dealing with this.’ And that would be very tremendously fair of her. So I can imagine she was like, ‘I don’t have time for any of this.’ So I like to think she probably broke up with him.” Matarazzo also expressed optimism about Dustin’s future.
