Canceled Green Lantern Series Details Revealed by Actor

During a recent interview, Jeremy Irvine shared details about the canceled Green Lantern series from HBO. Irvine also noted that the show had strong ideas for the DC characters and featured “a really nice story.”

Jeremy Irvine talks canceled Green Lantern series

Jeremy Irvine recently sat down with The Direct for an interview while promoting his latest film, Turbulence. However, when asked about his role in the HBO Max Green Lantern series, Irvine appeared deeply disappointed by its cancellation. “I was so gutted. I think I slept on my floor that night when I found out that it wasn’t going to happen,” said the Mamma Mia actor. “In this industry, I always like to say that you get one kick in the nuts every year as an actor.”

“And that, I remember, that one being a hard one because I had some really good ideas for it, I thought. But you know, there’ll be something else where we get to incorporate it,” he added. Further expressing hope that the project could materialize one day, Irvine said, “But it was just a really nice story; the way it was written was really cool. The scripts were great. And I hope one day it happens, and I hope whoever does it gets to have an amazing time.”

Meanwhile, Irvine did not reveal any details about the series, citing confidentiality agreements and his desire to work with James Gunn in the future. “I think I probably signed more NDAs for that than ever before in my life. So no, I’d rather not go to court with Mr. James Gunn. I’d quite like to work with him again,” he shared. HBO previously cast Irvine as Alan Scott, alongside Finn Wittrock as Guy Gardner, for the canceled Green Lantern series. However, the project ultimately never moved forward.
