The co-creator of Netflix’s Arcane recently talked about Jinx‘s fate at the end of Season 2 and shared insights about her sacrifice. Arcane is an action-adventure series that is based on the popular multiplayer battle arena game, League of Legends. Season 1 of the animated series dropped in 2021, and the second season arrived on Netflix in 2024.
Alex Yee explains Jinx’s fate in Arcane Season 2
Alex Yee, the co-creator of Arcane, recently addressed questions surrounding Jinx’s death and the idea that she could still be alive.
The finale of Arcane Season 2 left fans wondering after they witnessed Jinx falling to her death along with Vander, aka Warwick. Although Vi tries to prevent this from happening, Jinx, who had seemingly already made up her mind, takes the fall and blows herself up with Vander. The catch, however, is that fans have yet to see Jinx’s body. This has led to fans speculating that Joinx might still be alive.
While speaking to Collider recently, Yee was asked about why he felt the need to end the story on such a note. He stated, “I think there is a cost. It’s not a story where everything just works out, you know? And I think that cost is something that would be felt and something that needs to be felt. So, I will say that that is why she is definitely not dead.”
Although Yee’s answer suggests that Jinx might not be dead, it would only be confirmed if her fate is addressed in a possible spin-off.
Previously, in November 2024, Arcane’s other co-creator, Christian Linke, was asked the same question about Jinx’s fate by Teen Vogue. To this, he replied, “I don’t really want to speak to that yet. We’re just two or three days after the release, so I’ll leave it there.”
