Walker Canceled After 4 Seasons, Jared Padalecki Issues Statement

The CW has canceled the Jared Padaleki-led crime drama Walker after only four seasons. Padaleki, who has played Cordell Walker since Season 1, shared the disappointing news on his Instagram account.

A previous report from TVLine suggested that the series may be nearing cancellation, following the lack of Season 5 renewal updates. It wasn’t until Tuesday that Padalecki confirmed the news himself, saying that Walker will “not be airing on [The CW] for a fifth season.”

“It’s a tough piece of news to be sure, but we are SO thankful for the #WalkerFamily that has been built, both on set and off. After four seasons together, we have felt the love and support from the entire #WalkerFamily, and we will be forever grateful,” the actor wrote.

He added, “It has been a unique honor to be a part of the cast and crew (and fandom!) that helped #Walker tell the stories that we told. I will forever smile on the years I got to spend with the cast and crew and studio and network and fandom that made this all possible. Til we ride again.”

What is Walker about?

A reboot of the long-running series Walker, Texas Ranger (1993–2001), Walker follows Cordell, who returns to his home in Austin after spending his time being undercover. However, he will soon find out that plenty of things have changed following his two-year absence.

“Cordell Walker, a widower and father of two with his own moral code, returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years, only to discover there’s harder work to be done at home,” reads the logline.

Walker also starred Molly Hagan, Keegan Allen, Coby Bell, Mitch Pileggi, Odette Annable, and more.
