Ripley Character Posters Revealed for The Talented Mr. Ripley Series Adaptation

Now that the release date for Ripley is getting closer, Netflix (via Rotten Tomatoes) has unveiled new character posters for the TV adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 crime novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Starring Andrew Scott as the title character Tom Ripley, the newly released character posters also highlight the “talented” cast of the forthcoming eight-episode series, including Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood, Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf, Maurizio Lombardi as Inspector Pietro Ravini, and Eliot Sumner as Freddie Miles.

Rounding out the cast are Pasquale Esposito, Margherita Buy, John Malkovich, and more. You can check out the posters down below:

What is Ripley about?

Set to hit the streaming service on April 4, Ripley will center on the titular grifter and his involvement in fraud and deceit in 1960s New York.

“In the series, Tom Ripley, a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York, is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy to try to convince his vagabond son Dickie Greenleaf to return home. Tom’s acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud, and murder. Meanwhile, Marge Sherwood, an American living in Italy, suspects darker motives underlie Tom’s affability,” the synopsis reads.

This won’t be the first time Highsmith’s The Talented Mr. Ripley novel has been brought to life, with the Anthony Minghella-helmed movie of the same name having debuted to critical acclaim back in 1999. The film starred Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Cate Blanchett.

Ripley is written and directed by Steven Zaillian. In addition to writing and directing, Zaillian also served as one of the series’ executive producers alongside Garrett Basch, Guymon Casady, Ben Forkner, Sharon Levy, Philipp Keel, and Charlie Corwin.

Ripley hits Netflix on April 4.
