The Beast in Me: Claire Danes to Lead Netflix Miniseries From Homeland Showrunner

Homeland vet Claire Danes has officially signed on for the leading role in Netflix’s upcoming limited drama The Beast in Me.

This marks Danes’ reunion project with Homeland showrunner Howard Gordon, who is also set to showrun the upcoming mystery thriller drama. For her performance as CIA agent Carrie Mathison in Homeland, Danes received two Emmys and two Golden Globes for Best Actress.

What to expect in The Beast in Me?

“Since the tragic death of her young son, acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs (Danes) has receded from public life, unable to write, a ghost of her former self,” reads the synopsis. “But she finds an unlikely subject for a new book when the house next door is bought by Nile Sheldon, a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth – chasing his demons while fleeing her own – in a game of cat and mouse that might turn deadly.”

The Beast in Me is created, written and executive produced by Gabe Rotter. In addition to starring, Danes is also serving as an executive producer alongside Jodie Foster, Gordon, Daniel Pearle, Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross, and David Kissinger. It is a production by 20th Television.
