The Pitt: Max Gives Straight-to-Series Order to Noah Wyle-Led Medical Drama

Max has given a straight-to-series order to The Pitt — a new medical drama led by five-time Emmy Award nominee Noah Wyle.

The series has received a 15-episode straight-to-series order from the streaming platform, with Wyle executive producing the show in addition to starring. The Pitt’s showrunner will be R. Scott Gemmill, who has worked on JAG and ER and has served as showrunner of NCIS: Los Angeles since Season 8.

“Collaborating with the visionary talents of John Wells, R. Scott Gemmill, and Noah Wyle to develop this new series has already been an exhilarating process,” Sarah Aubrey, Head of Max Original Programming said in a statement. “Their passion, creativity, and dedication to storytelling elevate every aspect of the project, and together, we’re poised to deliver a compelling and authentic portrayal of today’s medical world that will captivate audiences and leave a lasting impact.”

The Pitt will be produced by John Wells Productions alongside Warner Bros. Television. In addition to serving as showrunner, Gemmill will write the first episode and executive produce with Wyle, John Wells, and JWP’s Erin Jontow, Simran Baidwan, and Michael Hissrich.

What will The Pitt be about?

“The Pitt is a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh,” reads the series’ logline.
