Dr. Odyssey: Joshua Jackson to Lead Ryan Murphy’s Medical Drama Series

According to Deadline, The Affair alum Joshua Jackson has signed on for the leading role in the upcoming medical procedural drama titled Dr. Odyssey, which hails from Emmy-winning creator Ryan Murphy. The project has officially received a straight-to-series order at ABC, which marks the network’s latest collaboration with Murphy after saving 9-1-1 from its Fox cancellation.

Jackson is expected to portray the titular role, “whose charms help him get what he wants.” Further details about the new show’s plot and characters are still under wraps, but it will reportedly take place on a cruise ship.

Who’s involved in Dr. Odyssey?

Dr. Odyssey is written and executive produced by Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken, with Paris Barclay attached to direct. In addition to starring, Jackson is also executive producing alongside Barclay, Eric Paquette, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson and Nissa Diederich. It is a production by 20th Television.

Jackson is no stranger to the medical genre, as he previously portrayed a doctor in 2021’s crime thriller Dr. Death. His most recent TV project was Paramount+’s series adaptation of the 1987 movie Fatal Attraction. He will also next be seen in Sony Pictures’ newest Karate Kid movie with Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan.
