House of the Dragon Season 2 Won't Be Impacted by WGA Strike

House of the Dragon Season 2 Release Date Window Announced

Per Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery executive J.B. Perrette confirmed that they’re currently targeting a June 2024 release date for the highly-anticipated House of the Dragon Season 2.

This comes after nearly two years since the Game of Thrones spin-off made its debut with its 10-episode first season, which is still available for streaming on Max.

The Targaryen Civil War Begins in House of the Dragon Season 2

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon chronicles the rise and the downfall of the Targaryens – the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria. Set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the first installment ended with the death of King Viserys, which threw the Targaryens into complete chaos as different sides debated on who’s rightful heir to the Iron Throne between Prince Aegon or Princess Rhaenyra. Season 2 signals the beginning of the Dance of the Dragons, with each side gathering as many allies and dragons as they can to ensure the other’s defeat.

The series currently stars Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Graham McTavish, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Matthew Needham, Bill Patterson, Gavin Spokes, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Savannah Steyn, and Theo Nate. Season 2 also welcomes the addition of Gayle Rankin, Russell Beale, Freddie Fox, and Abubakar Salim.
