The Hedge Knight Filming Start Date Window Confirmed by HBO Chairman

The CEO of HBO has confirmed the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight filming start date window for the Game of Thrones spin-off series.

The Wrap interviewed HBO’s chairman and CEO Casey Bloys about the company‘s current and future programming. On the topic of Game of Thrones’ spin-offs, the CEO revealed that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is still set to begin filming this year in 2024 before reminding everyone that the only two greenlit spin-offs are Hedge Knight and the ongoing House of the Dragon.

“I think with a show like this, when somebody reads that something is in development, there becomes an expectation that that is being shot, which is not the case,” Bloys explained. “So right now the only two things that are greenlit are House of the Dragon, obviously, and The Hedge Night. There are a lot of other projects in development but I don’t have anything imminent to report.”

What is The Hedge Knight based on?

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is based on the Martin’s Dunk and Egg novella. The short tale centers on Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and Aegon V Targaryen (Egg), set a hundred years before the events of the main series. The series is expected to run for six episodes.

“A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros … a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg,” reads the series’ logline. “Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
