This week, a Facebook group titled ReBoot ReWind shared that it had taken a tour of Mainframe Entertainment — the company that produced the animated series — and had found the original PAL D1 masters for the entirety of ReBoot’s run, including every episode.

The group of fans also said that there was also a library of additional ReBoot content, including animation tests, toy commercials, footage from an Electronic Arts video game, and IMAX content.

Alongside the announcement, the group also asked for help on how to move forward. Their goal, according to the Facebook post, is to find a working D1 tape deck in order to capture the tapes and help transfer the masters in their original format.

What is ReBoot?

ReBoot is a Canadian computer-animated TV series that ran from 1994-2001, and was created by Gavin Blair, Ian Pearson, Phil Mitchell, and John Grace. The series followed the adventures of a Guardian named Bob and his companions Enzo and Dot Matrix, as they kept the Mainframe safe from different things.

In 2018, a reimagined series titled ReBoot: The Guardian Code premiered on Netflix, and aired for 20 episodes. It’s unclear whether or not Mainframe Entertainment or YTV (the channel that originally broadcasted the series) has any plans to remaster the series themselves.
