Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1 Sets Netflix Premiere Date

Following Star Trek: Prodigy’s cancellation at Paramount+ earlier this year, the animated Star Trek series will be available to stream on Netflix on Christmas Day, Netflix Geeked announced.

Set to hit the streaming service on December 25, the second season of Star Trek: Prodigy was almost complete before Paramount+ abruptly canceled the series. Of course, fans were not happy about the cancellation announcement, even going as far as setting up a fan campaign. Fortunately, although they may have to wait a little longer, Netflix — which had acquired the series — will also air Season 2.

“A message to our incredible fans from us and Alex Kurtzman. Happy to share that #SaveStarTrekProdigy has found a NEW HOME! Star Trek: Prodigy is coming to Netflix in 2023, and all new episodes in 2024. #SAVEDStarTrekProdigy,” series creators Dan and Kevin Hageman announced in October.

They added, “We set out to inspire you, but you inspired us. The team is still hard at work on the second season, and we can’t wait to share it with the amazing fans around the world.”

According to the show’s official description, Star Trek: Prodigy follows “a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search of a better future. These six young outcasts know nothing about the ship they have commandeered — a first in the history of the ‘Star Trek’ franchise — but over the course of their adventures together, they will each be introduced to Starfleet and the ideals it represents.”

The animated series features the voices of Kate Mulgrew as Hologram Kathryn Janeway, Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk, Brett Gray as Dal, Angus Imrie as Zero, Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog, Ella Purnell as Gwyn, Dee Bradley Baker as Murf, Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog, Jimmi Simpson as Drednok, and John Noble as The Diviner.
