WWE NXT Strikes 5 Year Deal With The CW

WWE’s NXT show has officially found a new home, according to the company in a recent announcement.

According to WWE, NXT will begin airing weekly on CW in October 2024, when it will leave its current slot on the USA Network. The news was initially reported earlier in the day, but WWE has since confirmed it. WWE notes the company has agreed to a five-year deal with The CW to broadcast the show.

“Between the new leadership and ownership, the economics of the deal and with their broadcast network now being in over 100 million homes, it became a no brainer to move NXT, one of our signature weekly shows, to the CW,” said Nick Khan, president of WWE.

NXT will be making history with the move

The new agreement marks the first time in NXT’s history that it will broadcast on a broadcast television network. Currently, NXT is overseen by WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, and acts as a sort of “developmental” program for WWE’s up-and-coming superstars. However, plenty of high-profile wrestlers show up on the program, including Becky Lynch and more.

“We are thrilled to welcome the WWE brand into the CW Sports portfolio as they play an integral role in our mission to bring live sporting events to the network year-round,” said Dennis Miller, president of The CW Network. “WWE NXT is a perfect fit for The CW thanks to its dynamic young talent featuring the hottest rising stars in the sport and exhilarating, unpredictable weekly events. The passion and engagement of WWE’s fanbase is unmatched, and we are eager to grow that audience as WWE NXT’s new home on broadcast television.”
