The Hunting Wives: Series Adaptation of May Cobb’s Thriller Novel Ordered at Starz

According to Deadline, Starz has officially granted an eight-episode series order to The Hunting Wives, based on May Cobb’s 2021 thriller novel of the same name. The project hails from Rebecca Cutter, who is also working with Starz on other shows like Hightown and The Serpent Queen.

“The Hunting Wives is a juicy, suspenseful and sultry thrill-ride,” Starz’s President of Original Programming, Kathryn Busby said in a statement. “We’re excited to continue to work with Rebecca and Erwin on this propulsive series that perfectly complements Starz’s slate of edgy, female-forward premium content.”

What to expect in The Hunting Wives?

The Hunting Wives revolves around Sophie, a city woman whose family moves to a small town in Texas, where she meets the charismatic socialite Margot Banks. After finding herself drawn to Margot’s presence, Sophie suddenly joins Margot’s exclusive elite club called the Hunting Wives, where other socialite wives like Margot do more than just shoot guns for fun. Soon, a local girl winds up dead in the same woods where the wives meet.

The adaptation is executive produced and written by Cutter, who will also be set as the showrunner. Alex Alberts, Tara Roy, and Christina Jokanovich are overseeing the project in behalf of Starz, while Scott Herbst and Courtney Mock will oversee for Lionsgate Television. It is produced by 3 Arts Entertainment’s Erwin Stoff and Lionsgate Television, with Cobb executive producing.

The book’s official synopsis reads: “Sophie O’Neill left behind an envy-inspiring career and the stressful, competitive life of big-city Chicago to settle down with her husband and young son in a small Texas town. It seems like the perfect life with a beautiful home in an idyllic rural community. But Sophie soon realizes that life is now too quiet, and she’s feeling bored and restless.”
