In a recent interview with Variety, Daniel Radcliffe has expressed his excitement for Max’s upcoming Harry Potter TV series, as he believes that this would be a great opportunity to introduce the franchise to a new generation. Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter in the blockbuster film franchise for over a decade, is hoping that the series would be more faithful to the books by including key parts of the story that were cut from the movies.
“I’m excited for it as a viewer. I’ll be able to enjoy it with everyone else possible, with a slightly different perspective,” Radcliffe said. “It’s a nice thing that a whole new generation is going to get introduced to the stories in a new way. They’ll see it as a TV series, so they’ll probably have time to go into all the things. So, for the people that were angry about things that were cut from the film, hopefully, they will finally be able to see the full version they wanted.”
Radcliffe most recently earned his first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his performance in The Roku Channel’s biographical comedy Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. He is currently starring in TBS’ anthology comedy Miracle Workers Season 4: End Times.
What to Expect in the Harry Potter TV Series?
The Harry Potter series is described as a “decade-long” project with each season expected to adapt one book in J.K. Rowling’s acclaimed book series, which consists of The Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows.
Further details about its potential cast and creative team are still being kept under wraps. Rowling is also attached as a producer. After the project was greenlit, Warner Bros. was reportedly searching for the right writer for the adaptation. However, it’s unclear how the ongoing WGA strike has affected the project’s development.
The Harry Potter seven-book series was adapted into eight films that earned over $7 billion at the worldwide box office. Warner Bros. also has the Fantastic Beasts prequel series of films under its belt, including 2016’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and 2022’s Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
