Bupkis Season 2: Pete Davidson-Led Peacock Series Gets Renewed

Peacock has officially ordered Bupkis Season 2 for Pete Davidson’s newest comedy drama, based on the Saturday Night Live alum’s real-life experience. The renewal comes after nearly two months since the series debuted its 8-episode first season, which was an instant hit among critics and currently holds an audience score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Pete Davidson is a once-in-a-generation talent, and what he created with the first season of Bupkis absolutely blew us away,” Chairman of Entertainment Content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, Susan Rovner said in a statement. “Pete has the rare ability to make you laugh out loud with his unfiltered brand of comedy, and then tear up with his raw and honest vulnerability. We could not be more proud to continue on this journey with Pete, Lorne Michaels, Broadway Video, and our partners at Universal Television for a second season as we continue to bolster Peacock’s comedy slate.”

What is Bupkis about?

“Bupkis is a new comedy following Pete Davidson as he attempts to work through unique family dynamics and the complexities of fame to form meaningful relationships,” reads the series’ description. “The raw, semi-autobiographical series straddles reality and absurdity to best represent what it is to be Pete Davidson. Welcome to Bupkis.”

Joining Davidson are Edie Falco as Amy Davidson, Joe Pesci as Joe Larocca, Philip Ettinger as Evan, Bobby Cannavale as Uncle Tommy, and more. Season 1 featured a star-studded guest lineup including Sebastian Stan, Jon Stewart, John Mulaney, Machine Gun Kelly, Al Gore, Steve Buscemi, and more.

The series is being co-written by Davidson, Judah Miller, and Dave Sirus, who also co-wrote Judd Apatow’s The King of Staten Island, which was also inspired by Davidson’s life. Executive producers are Davidson, Sirus, Miller, Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer, and Erin David, with Miller serving as the showrunner.
