Amazon Studios has released the first-look The Horror of Dolores Roach photos for the upcoming dark comedy starring One Day At a Time actress Justina Machado.
The Horror of Dolores Roach photos tease Machado’s portrayal of Dolores Roach, an ex-convict who starts a new life by working as a masseuse in the basement of her friend’s Empanada store. The series will be available for streaming on July 7, exclusively on Prime Video.

Based on the Spotify podcast of the same name, The Horror of Dolores Roach is described as a contemporary Sweeney Todd-inspired urban legend of love, betrayal, weed, cannibalism, and survival of the fittest. It stars Justina Machado, Alejandro Hernandez, Kita Updike, and K. Todd Freeman.
“In the series, Dolores Roach (Machado) is released after an unjust 16-year prison sentence, and she returns to a gentrified Washington Heights,” reads the synopsis. “Dolores reunites with an old stoner friend, Luis (Hernandez), who lets her live and work as a masseuse in the basement under his empanada shop. When the promise of her newfound stability is quickly threatened, “Magic Hands” Dolores is driven to shocking extremes to survive.”
The Horror of Dolores Roach adaptation is written and executive produced by original podcast series creator-writer Aaron Mark, who is also set as the showrunner. Executive producers are Dara Resnik, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie, Dawn Ostroff, Mimi O’Donnell, Justin McGoldrick, Gloria Calderón Kellett, and Roxann Dawson.
