With just three episodes under its belt, FOX has officially announced today that they’ve ordered an additional six episodes of their new series “Gotham,” bringing its first season to a full 22 episode run. The premiere episode delivered FOXs highest-rated fall drama debut in 14 years and drew in 14.1 million viewers in the first seven days.
The series draws on the origin story of Batman, taking place in Gotham City as young Detective (and future Commissioner) James Gordon and the recently orphaned Bruce Wayne meet in the troubled days before the arrival of the Dark Knight. With a cast including Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Jada Pinkett Smith and Sean Pertwee, Gotham follows Gordons rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner as he navigates the layers of corruption that secretly rule Gotham City.
“Gotham” airs Mondays on FOX at 8/7c.
