Hulu Increasing Pricing on Various Tiers Starting in October

Hulu is preparing to raise the price of both versions of the popular streaming service beginning next month, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.

The report mentions that both new and existing users of Hulu will see the price increase, with ad-supported versions of Hulu going up from $5.99 to $6.99 a month, while the ad-free version of Hulu will go up from $11.99 to $12.99 a month. The Hollywood Reporter also notes that the live TV plans and any bundled plans — including the Disney streaming bundle that includes Disney+ — will not see any price changes at the moment.

This marks the first update in Hulu’s pricing since 2020 when the company dropped its most basic packages down in price to the $5.99 they are at now. In December, Hulu also increased its live TV bundle prices by $10, and just recently this past March, the company increased the prices of its Disney+ and ESPN+ subscriptions to $7.99/month and $6.99/month, respectively.

The move likely comes as a result of Hulu getting a sudden huge influx of content thanks to its partnership with Disney+. Recently, Disney has brought a ton of streaming options to Hulu from Hotstar, best known for their Bollywood and South Asian content. Because of the inclusion and likely boost in subscribers that will stem from the move, it seems like Hulu is ready to try and bring in some more revenue.
