Hayley Atwell Confirms Agent Carter for an Eight-Episode Run

We learned last week that ABC is doubling down on their small screen portion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, renewing “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” for a second season and picking up the Hayley Atwell-led “Agent Carter” for a first. Today, Marvel caught up with Atwell herself and posted the below video regarding her upcoming return to the franchise wherein she reveals that the first season will run just eight episodes.

“Agent Carter,” which was essentially first teased with a “Marvel One-Shot” on the Iron Man 3 home video release, is officially described as follows:

It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers.

A premiere date has not yet been announced, but it is expected that “Agent Carter” will premiere during the midseason break of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
