Original series star Soleil Moon Frye is set to reprise her role as the titular character, alongside Cherie Johnson, reprising her role as Punky’s best friend Cherie. Punky Brewster will also feature new cast members Freddie Prinze Jr. as Punky’s ex-husband Travis, Quinn Copeland as Izzy, Noah Cottrell as Diego, Oliver De Los Santos as Daniel and Lauren Lindsey Donzis as Hannah.
The Punky Brewster revival is written and executive produced by Steve and Jim Armogida. It is also executive produced by Frye, original creator David Duclon and Main Event Media’s Jimmy Fox with UCP and Universal Television set as its producers.
Punky Brewster earned two Emmy nominations during its run from 1984 to 1988. The series was followed up by an animated series, It’s Punky Brewster, with Frye voicing her popular character and earning the show a Daytime Emmy nomination.
