The Dark Corners of the Night: Meg Gardiner’s UNSUB series in the works at Amazon
According to Deadline, Amazon Studios is in the process of developing a new series adaptation titled The Dark Corners of the Night, which will be based on the upcoming third installment to author Meg Gardiner’s thriller novel series UNSUB. The hour-long drama series will be executive produced by Goliath‘s Larry Trilling as part of his overall deal with Amazon.
“Meg Gardiner writes complicated characters and thrilling plot lines that lend themselves beautifully to a cinematic adaptation,” Trilling said in a statement. “The UNSUB series is going to be a wild ride for viewers.”
First published in 2018, the first book in the UNSUB series was inspired by the infamous Zodiac Killer case. It follows a female detective named Caitlin Hendrix, who is on the trail of an infamous serial killer who breaks his silence and begins killing again. This novel was followed by last years Into the Black Nowhere that was inspired by the Ted Bundy case.
The Dark Corners of the Night will continue to follow Caitlin’s relentless pursuit for other UNSUBs (Unidentified subject of an investigation) as she now hunts for a serial killer who targets families, killing the parents and leaving the children alive to witness the unspeakable horror.
Its official synopsis reads: “I am the legion of the night …
He appears in the darkness like a ghost, made of shadows and fear–the Midnight Man. He comes for the parents but leaves the children alive, tiny witnesses to unspeakable horror. The bedroom communities of Los Angeles are gripped with dread, and the attacks are escalating.
Still reeling from her best friend’s close call in a bombing six months ago, FBI behavioral analyst Caitlin Hendrix has come to Los Angeles to assist in the Midnight Man investigation and do what she does best–hunt a serial killer. Her work is what keeps her going, but something about this UNSUB–unknown subject–doesn’t sit right. She soon realizes that this case will test not only her skills but also her dedication, for within the heart of a killer lives a secret that mirrors Caitlin’s own past. Hesitancy is not an option, but will she be able to do what must be done if the time comes?”
The series will be executive produced by Larry Trilling (Goliath) and Shane Salerno through his The Story Factory banner. Trilling will also serve as a showrunner for the series. The Dark Corners of the Night is scheduled to launch this month on February 18 and you can pre-order the book now by clicking here.
