Hit Prime Video TV Show Renewed for Season 2

A hit Prime Video television show is getting a second season.

All ten episodes of Prime Video’s Ballard were released on the streaming service this past July. Serving as a spin-off to Bosch and Bosch: Legacy, the series sees Maggie Q play Detective Renée Ballard, while the cast further includes Courtney Taylor as Zamira Parker, Michael Mosley as Ted Rawls, Rebecca Field as Colleen Hatteras, Victoria Moroles as Martina Castro, Amy Hill as Tutu, and John Carroll Lynch as Thomas Laffont.

According to a new report from Deadline, while Amazon MGM Studios declined to comment on the matter, Ballard has been renewed for a second season.

What do we know about Prime Video’s Ballard Season 2?

Deadline’s article notes, “Ballard‘s Season 2 renewal chances were further boosted when the Los Angeles-based series in August was awarded a $14.84M tax credit by the California Film Commission, making its pickup very likely. Chatter about pending Prime Video renewal decisions heated up last month. They were likely delayed by the recent leadership change, with Peter Friedlander succeeding Vernon Sanders as Head of Global TV for Amazon MGM Studios.”

Further details beyond that about Ballard Season 2 are unavailable at this time.

Ballard Season 1, meanwhile, currently has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Based on the Renée Ballard novel series by Michael Connell, the show comes from Michael Alaimo and Kendall Sherwood.

“Detective Renée Ballard plunges into a web of murder and corruption as she hunts a ruthless serial killer and uncovers a sinister police conspiracy that threatens everything she stands for. With her own demons nipping at her heels, Ballard must outwit both criminals and colleagues to bring long-overdue justice to the victims and their families,” a description of the series reads.

An official premiere date for Ballard Season 2 has not yet been set.
