Natalie Morales Joins Netflix’s Dead to Me Season 2

Variety is reporting that Natalie Morales (Santa Clarita Diet, Abby’s, Parks and Recreation) has joined Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini in the second season of Netflix’s dark comedy series Dead to Me.

Morales, whose upcoming projects include Happily and Warner Bros.’ Little Things, will play the recurring role of Michelle, who is described as wry and down to earth. Michelle has a relaxed charm and infectious wit. She forms a connection with Judy (Cardellini) at the assisted living facility where Michelle’s difficult mother lives.

Written by Liz Feldman (2 Broke GirlsThe Great Indoors), the series follows Jen (Applegate), a widow Hell bent on solving her husband’s hit-and-run murder, and her unlikely friend Judy (Cardellini) an optimistic woman who likewise suffered a tremendous loss. The two bond over, as the trade notes, “bottles of wine, Entenmann’s cookies, and a shared affinity for The Facts of Life,” all the while Judy harbors a secret that could destroy Jen’s life.

Applegate serves as an executive producer on the show, along with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. The three produce alongside Jessica Elbaum (I’m Sorry) of Gloria Sanchez Productions. Mckay and Ferrell have been involved in creating all kinds of content lately, from HBO’s business drama Succession to CBS All Access’ No Activity. They are also set to work with Netflix on the upcoming musical comedy Eurovision, which will star Ferrell.
