Phoebe Waller-Bridge Signs First Look Deal with Amazon
Following her multiple Emmy wins for the streaming service on Sunday, Amazon has signed a first look deal with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Variety reports. The deal will see Waller-Bridge create and produce new television shows exclusively for Amazon Prime Video.
“I’m insanely excited to be continuing my relationship with Amazon,” said Waller-Bridge. “Working with the team on Fleabag was the creative partnership dreams are made of. It really feels like home. I can’t wait to get going!”
“We are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Phoebe at Amazon Studios! As evident in her great success at the Emmy Awards this week, she is clever, brilliant, generous and a virtuoso on multiple fronts including writing, acting and producing,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. “Fleabag has been a gift to our Prime Video customers and we are excited for what comes next from this brilliant mind to dazzle and delight our global audience.”
Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag won six Emmys on Sunday, with the multi-hyphenate taking home three herself including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Comedy Series. Her other notable credits include the Emmy winning series Killing Eve, which she created, and the upcoming 25th James Bond movie No Time to Die, for which she co-wrote the screenplay.
