Quibi thriller lands Liam Hemsworth

Untitled Quibi Thriller Lands Liam Hemsworth to Star

Quibi, the upcoming mobile-only streaming platform, has added another star to its growing roster of talent. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Liam Hemsworth (brother of Chris, husband of Miley Cyrus) will star in an upcoming action/thriller that will echo his role from The Hunger Games franchise.

The project hails from writer Nick Santora (Scorpion, Prison Break) and CBS Television Studios. Hemsworth will play a terminally ill man named Dodge Maynard who will do anything to provide for his pregnant wife before he dies. In the throws desperation, he accepts an offer to participate in a deadly game, only to discover that he’s not the hunter, but he is the prey.

Santora will serve as executive producer for the project, along with director Phil Abraham (Mad Men, Daredevil), Gordon Gray and Silver Reel Pictures.

So far, Quibi has attracted the likes of Paul Feig, Don Cheadle, Naomi Watts, and even Steven Spielberg — and it’s months away from becoming a reality. The streaming service, founded by Jeffrey Katzenberg, is set to feature series that run two to four hours in length. However, they will be broken down into segments that are no longer than 10 minutes in length. We’ll see how this goes over when Quibi launches on April 6, 2020.
