Game of Thrones Expected to Return to San Diego Comic-Con

Following it’s record-breaking series finale last month, Deadline reports that the award-winning fantasy series Game of Thrones will finally be able to celebrate its incredible legacy with the fans by returning for a final appearance at this year’s San Diego Comic Con in July. According to the outlet, HBO and confab organizers are already in the final stages of negotiations. If the deal pushes through, the show’s panel would be comprised of past and present cast members that could include Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Sophie Turner, John Bradley, Gwendoline Christie, Liam Cunningham, Maisie Williams and Isaac Hempstead Wright.

Game of Thrones had made its last appearance in the 2017 SDCC. They’ve skipped last year’s Comic-Con due to the show’s hectic production schedule for the last season. This year’s panel will be different from their past Comic-Cons because the cast can now easily answer questions about the series without the fear of giving out spoilers.

Based on the popular book series A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R.R. Martin, the Emmy-winning fantasy series chronicles an epic struggle for power in a vast and violent kingdom. The series stars Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams.

The final season of Game of Thrones likely won’t be our last trip to Westeros, as HBO has greenlit a pilot set 1,000 years before the events of the wildly popular sword and sorcery epic. Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse have been cast in the as-yet-untitled prequel series. S.J. Clarkson (The DefendersJessica Jones) will direct the pilot.
