Animated Spinoff Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Headed to Netflix

Netflix is giving viewers a whole new way to experience the wonders of Jurassic Park from the comfort of your living room. The streaming service has teamed with DreamWorks Animation for Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, an animated action-adventure series, is set to debut sometime in 2020

The series is set within the same timeline as the 2015’s Jurassic WorldJurassic World: Camp Cretaceous follows a group of teenagers chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar. Of course, the dinosaurs wreak havoc across the island, leaving the campers stranded. Unable to reach the outside world, they’ll need to go from strangers to friends to family if they’re going to survive.

Scott Kreamer (Pinky Malinky) and Lane Lueras (Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny) will serve as showrunners and executive producers. Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Colin Trevorrow will also executive produce, with Zack Stentz serves as consulting producer.

DreamWorks Animation has had 18 original series debut Netflix, including the Tales of Arcadia trilogy from Guillermo del Toro, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and The Boss Baby: Back in Business. The studio also has a number of additional series slated to debut on Netflix this year, including Archibald’s Next Big Thing and the highly anticipated Fast & Furious animated series.

Meanwhile, the third installment in the Jurassic World series hits theaters on June 11, 2021, possibly with the original Jurassic Park leads along for the ride.
